About

My research interests are:

* Biblical Spirituality (= the historical constructions of faith as reflected within the biblical texts, and how modern spiritualities relate to the Bible in theory and practice)
* Pentateuch theory
* The mass media and spirituality
* Sexuality and spirituality

I thus work in an interdisciplinary manner, not because it is politically correct, but because it is based on initially separate specialisms.

For Christian Spirituality, we only accept post-graduate students, namely into one of three programmes:
* Honours (a first post-graduate qualification in South Africa);
* Master's (by supervised dissertation);
* Doctorate  (by supervised dissertation).

About half my students reside outside of South Africa, in such interesting places as Kenia, Outer Mongolia, The Netherlands, and the USA.  Because of Unisa's model of distance education, it is possible to guide research students across the globe.

At present, students can write dissertations with me in the following languages: Afrikaans, Dutch, English, German. English remains the dominant language, though.
